Southwest Airlines is an American low-cost operator and one of the biggest airlines in the world, in terms of the number of passengers transported. It is based in Dallas, Texas and serves destinations exclusively in the United States. Established in 1967 as Air Southwest, its first flight took off in 1971. It pioneered the no frills strategy using, one-type aircraft fleet, cheaper landing fees by using secondary airports and hedging fuel prices
